Nabni in Action

We are pleased to share the first edition of Nabni’s quarterly newsletter!

The newsletter provides a snapshot of key milestones achieved by our implementing partners and the Facility. Learning and knowledge exchange are central to Nabni’s work, and we are keen to share lessons from our model of enabling closer and more equitable partnerships with local civil society, as well as our approach to promoting peace through post-conflict recovery and reconstruction. Through this newsletter, our website and LinkedIn page, we look forward to sharing more updates, insights, and learning.

We welcome your questions, feedback, and suggestions.

Our Partners in Action

Syria: the work has officially begun

Our three Syrian partner consortia are now on the ground – meeting communities, running local peace and conflict analyses, and shaping what comes next.

In rural Hama, AMAL and The Day After (TDA) are working to support reducing tensions between communities that experienced different trajectories during the past conflict, by developing access to shared services and creating space for youth and women to shape local decisions.

  • In Ar-Raqqa, Basmeh & Zeitooneh and DAR for Peace & Prosperity are tackling one of the region’s most pressing issues: water access, paired with livelihoods support for farmers.
  • Along the coast in Latakia and Tartous, Lilbalad Sanad, Mobaderoon and Rozana Media are rebuilding trust through dialogue and shared community spaces.

Three different contexts, one shared goal: tangible recovery outcomes that bring people together.

Nabni at the World Bank Fragility Forum 2026

Panellists at the World Bank Group's Fragility Forum 2026 in Washington, DC

In June, Nabni participated in the World Bank Group’s Fragility Forum in Washington, DC, co-hosting a practitioner panel with KfW Development Bank, the World Bank, and Nabni’s partner in Yemen, Nahda Makers Organization. The discussion focused on a critical question: how can localization move beyond rhetoric and become a practical system underpinned by appropriate financing, risk-sharing, and co-design? Drawing on our experience, we highlighted the value of intermediary models like Nabni’s in building stronger, more equitable partnerships between international actors and local organizations.

A new partnership: Nabni x European Institute of Peace

Also in June, Nabni launched a strategic partnership with the Brussels-based European Institute of Peace (EIP). The collaboration is designed to strengthen the link between practice and policy by transforming lessons from our work in Iraq, Yemen, and Syria into evidence that can inform decision-making. Together, we aim to generate knowledge and insights that are accessible and relevant to policymakers, practitioners, and the wider peacebuilding community.

Invitation: Roundtable Discussion

10:45 – 13:00

28 OCTOBER 2026 – AMMAN, JORDAN

Join Nabni for a hybrid roundtable discussion, “Who gets to define post-conflict reconstruction priorities?”, exploring how local communities and civil society can play a stronger role in shaping reconstruction efforts. Drawing on experiences from Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, the conversation will examine how reconstruction processes can become more inclusive, locally led, and supportive of long-term peace and social cohesion.
